Brandon Weller: Why I Love Discord

Discord has helped me in a lot of different ways. I’ve been wanting to help people with their mental health since I was 14 years old.  The reason I wanted to help was because for most of my life I have struggled with schizoaffective disorder.

I’ve felt hopeless and felt like nobody understood.  I wanted to make sure that people know that they’re not alone.  That there is hope. That they’re strong enough to live a happy life.  I’ve been there, and I know what it’s like.

I know now that there is hope for people living with mental health issues. The Discord server helps me see that other people go through what I’ve been through.  It has definitely proved to me that people can succeed despite their mental illness.

Being able to help others realize that they’re not alone is one of the ways that I help on the server.  If I weren’t here, I wouldn’t feel like I’m being as productive as I am now.

Also, the Discord helps me vent when I’m hearing voices or am depressed. Being able to vent helps me because I can let out my stress in a productive way and not be judged for having issues.

It truly has saved my life. Without discord, I think I’d be a lot more depressed.  I would feel more alone.  Being more depressed makes the voices worse as they feed off my stress.  By being able to vent, I can decrease my stress level.  Being on the Discord makes me feel like there are people here who understand me.

Being able to help others realize that they’re not alone is one of the ways that I help on the server.  If I weren’t here, I wouldn’t feel like I’m being as productive as I am now.

I’m truly thankful for the Discord.
